Sabine Parish Board Meeting May 2022 Minutes

            The Library Board of Trustees met on May 19, 2022, at 9:30a.m., for a special meeting. Present: Paula Hardee, and Lorene Jones, Diann Migliore, and Kenneth Ebarb. Absent: Donna Ammons, Bonnie Miles, and Sally Maxie. The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Lorene Jones. The Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Diann Migliore, seconded by Kenneth Ebarb.

As there was no quorum at the 1st Quarter Meeting in April, the Treasurer’s Report for the 1st quarter was given and voted on by a motion from Kenneth Ebarb, seconded by Paula Hardee. The vote to accept the report was unanimous. Also looked at discussed were the circulation and usage reports for the 1st Quarter of 2022.

New Business:

            A request for consideration of hours to be changed for the Converse Branch Library was discussed. No action was taken at this time to change the current open days and times.

            The Director informed the Board that, pursuant to the position of Administrative Assistant being created at an earlier date, current part-time Bookkeeper Melissa McElwee has been promoted to fill the, hereto, unfilled position.

Old Business:

The project to build a new Main Branch was discussed. Director Debbie Anderson reported that Mr. Coco had submitted plans to a Rendering firm for final renderings to be done for approval by the Board and to be used in displaying to the public.

Also discussed was the Library Renewal Tax will be coming up on a ballot in November. It was reported that Kenneth Ebarb had brought the matter to the Police Jury to be approved upon and the process for including it on the November 8, 2022 at a reduced rate of 4 mills.                         There being no further business, the meeting adjourned by a motion from Kenneth Ebarb, seconded by Paula Hardee.
